For whatever reason, it seems about half of my errands wind up in Old Town looking at these Oaxacan lizards.
But I can never find one that seems “alive” enough. Seriously, I once saw one in a dusty antique shop in Oakland that was obviously created by a shaman, because it gave you the sensation looking at it that the spirit of the thing was watching you, waiting to pounce right out and crawl up your shirt. I had the heebie-jeebies for weeks.
Been searching for that sensation ever since.
